COVID-19

The 2019/2020 crop year ended in the middle of the global COVID-19 pandemic. In this scenario, our decisions can only be guided by our commitment to the health, safety and integrity of employees, shareholders, suppliers and the communities where we operate.

We outline below the key initiatives undertaken at the end of the 2019/2020 crop which are still in force:

Work model:

We implemented remote work (flex office) for all employees in the offices and administrative areas. We removed employees belonging to risk groups from their on-site activities and employees working in the units were distributed across shifts. We boosted the campaign for flu vaccination, with the adhesion of 78% of our staff.

Safety in transport:

We intensified sanitization of buses, which can now transport only 50% of their occupancy. We are giving drivers a protective kit, providing 70% alcohol and taking people’s temperature whey they get on the buses of the mills.

Protection:

We provide hand sanitizers in every section of the plant and at the rest areas in the fields. All machines and vehicles have a cleaning kit, and gatekeepers and security staff are also provided with face masks and gloves.

Preventing crowds:

Trips, events, training courses and external activities have been canceled. The industrial area and the canteen have been adjusted to ensure more isolation and distancing between people.

Production of 70% alcohol:

We mobilized different areas produce 70% alcohol in our units – a new product which is used to prevent infection with COVID-19.

Donation:

We donated 160,000 liters of 70% alcohol and hydrous ethanol produced in our agroindustrial units, valued at R$181,000, to more than 30 municipalities in six states, where more than three million people live.
